The Annapolis City Office of Emergency Management is in need of volunteers for their upcoming active shooter full scale exercise on December 6, 2018. Please note, this is not the same exercise as the Naval Academy Full Scale Exercise on February 6, 2019.
The exercise will run from 2:30pm (report time) until around 10:00pm, or earlier. Volunteers would be required to be present the entire time.
Volunteers will be split into two groups - victims and evacuees. Each role plays a crucial part in helping the City of Annapolis learn how to better respond to these types of emergencies. Before the exercise, there is a need to know what role you would prefer. Please find short descriptions of the roles below:
· Victims: will be moulaged and spread throughout the building. These players may be placed on the ground or in the hallways. We expect each victim to "act" wounded. Victims will be "treated" by the Rescue Task Force.
· Evacuees: will be evacuated from the building by the Annapolis Police Department and transported to the reunification center.
The exercise is being held at the J. Albert Adams Academy in Annapolis (245 Clay St, Annapolis, MD 21401) and will be indoors (in the school). However, expect to be outside for some time during the exercise. Please plan accordingly for brief outdoor moments. Yes, there is free on-site parking at the school.
Dinner will be provided, by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Alarmers.
Annapolis OEM needs 25 total volunteers and is reaching out to volunteer groups, given that it is a weekday event and spans 7 1/2 hours.Preparation and practice for active assailant scenarios is critical for first responders.
