Instructor: Sgt. Chris Scallon
Sgt. (Ret.) Christopher Scallon, MPsy, CCISM, retired as a 24-year veteran of the Norfolk Police Department, holds a Masters in Psychology, B.S. in Criminal Justice, and is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management from the University of Maryland BC Emergency Health Services. Chris was directly involved in multiple traumatic incidents as a firefighter, a U.S. Navy veteran and a police officer, in addition to multiple deadly force encounters during his tenure as a police officer, both directly and indirectly. He has first-hand experience with the primary, secondary, and tertiary, effects of trauma related to personal and professional relationships. Chris is a member of the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program and operates Survival Mindset Consulting. Attendees will learn about trauma, vicarious trauma and the importance of wellness and resilience in public safety professions.
